Do you believe in Unicorns?!

I’m sure a lot of you have been dying to see more of our Unicorn photos. We had SO much fun doing these and everyone has just loved them! The Ooohh’s and Aahhh’s that I get to hear at their gallery reveals are amazing. When they bring in their littles to the reveals and they still can’t believe that they got to take pictures with a real unicorn. It fills my heart with so much joy knowing that I was able to provide these families with such unique and magical photographs that they will be able to remember forever!

Unfortunately, I can’t fit all of them onto this blog but here are a few of our many favorites! Thank you so much to everyone that came out! We also want to thank Nicole Thompson for giving us the best unicorn for the job ❤

If you have a little boy (or girl) who wants to participate in the magic, we are having a Sailboat Experience on August 5th!! Fill out this form and wait for your proposal to schedule your date! You can book  here!

A Day In The Life

How many of you have I officially met? How many of you have only seen me online or passing by? Just incase you wanted to get to know me, I thought I’d share a few fun facts and photos of myself.

Well here it goes. I am 25 years old and have been doing photography full time since I was 18 years old. I first picked up a camera to photograph my now husbands band while they were in high school. We did some band photos up in a local cemetery (because thats the cool thing to do when you’re 17 and in a band) and alas my love for photography was born. I was using my moms Canon Rebel, an 8 megapixel camera, to photograph these images and editing them very awfully in photoshop afterwards. To put into perspective, the camera I shoot with now has 26 megapixels. Cameras have come a long way. Anyway, I started photographing friends and then after high school I decided I wanted to go to GRCC and get my associates degree in photography. I graduated with that associates degree in 2015 and well, here we are about 8 years into my career.

Fun Facts

  • I am married to that same 17 year old boy, he was the new kid in town his senior year and thats how we met. We were best friends in high school and have the most cheesy love story ever. Ya know best friends falling in love only to get married and have the most beautiful little fur family on the planet. We have two dogs, Wallace & Poncho, who you’ll see in the images below and of course my beautiful little princess siamese cat named Wilma (she’s my favorite…shhh don’t tell the others).
  • Logan (my husband) and I are Disney FREAKS. Yes we even got those cheesy matching Mickey and Minnie tattoos. You’ll most likely see it on my wrist while I’m photographing you. Heck, I may even be wearing a Disney shirt to your shoot (I’m wearing one as I type this out). We cannot wait to go back to Disney. It literally is the most magical place on earth.
  • When we first meet, I’m sure you’ll wonder why the heck my glasses are so large. I don’t really have a reason for that other than the fact that I LOVE them and love how big they are. It just fits my spunky personality!
  • Do you have a Hollywood crush? Mine is Benedict Cumberbatch and I’m a little overly obsessed with him. For one, he’s British and that makes him even more awesome. For two, he’s just a phenomenal actor and you should probably watch the BBC show Sherlock because it will change your life.
  • I spend my off nights listening to Logan’s band play. They are in the process of releasing a new album so stay tuned for that! Seeing the heart and soul he puts into his music is amazing and knowing how much he supports what I do is also amazing. One thing I’ve learned in a relationship is that you have to support one another in everything you do. He’s been my rock through the last 8 years of this venture and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Be sure to check out their band RED LEGS and you should probably go to one of their shows so we can hangout and listen to some awesome music!
  • Lastly, my favorite singer/artist (aside from Logan ;)) is Frank Sinatra. I love old jazz music, especially Frank. Sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong era. If you ever enter the studio on a day we are closed, you’ll most likely hear that jazz music coming from my computer while I’m editing away.

Well thats a lot of random things for you to know about me. A lot I’m sure you really could care less about but hey, now you know!

The following photos were taken on June 18th at Mission Point Lighthouse in Traverse City. We were camping near Fife Lake over the weekend and Logan and I decided to take our pooches to the beach for the first time. They loved it! I do have a few Traverse City dates coming up towards the end of Summer! I love traveling for my photography and these few dates that I am already in Traverse you can get at a discounted cost (woohoo! I know you all love discounts, because who doesn’t?)

Welcome to the World <3

Well I am 25 years old and am no where near ready to have a baby but I couldn’t be happier for one of my long time best friends, Kali, for bringing her first little one into this world.

Blakely Kaye entered this world on June 2nd after making her mom go about a week past her due date. She is absolutely beautiful and Kali and Brad couldn’t have asked for a more perfect and healthy baby girl. Blakely gained two big fur brothers that mom said love looking over her every day. Mom and dad are over the moon about her. Just look at how adorable she is!

Why Seniors?

Well I’ve been sitting around all week trying to decide what to write about. I just couldn’t think of anything that would really be all that meaningful to our Senior week this week. As it comes to an end I have finally decided what I wanted to tell you about.

Why Seniors? Why do we enjoy photographing seniors?

A lot of the seniors we get to work with are full of life and happiness. They are spunky and usually just learning about who they really are. They aren’t afraid to be themselves especially in front of the camera and I just LOVE that about seniors. Photographing them during their final year of high school is such an amazing thing. For those that do multiple sessions, we really get to see the difference from the beginning of their high school year and watch them transform into little adults while they prepare for their future endeavors.

Learning the differences of photographing boys vs. girls is also a lot of fun. Some of these boys when we first meet them you can just tell that their moms are making them do this. That doesn’t stop us though, we still have them laughing along with us or even at us by the end of their session haha. Once you can get a smile to crack out of a senior boy, you know you’ve won him over. Other senior boys just love getting their photos taken. Even some that we wouldn’t expect! As long as we let them be themselves, we are always having fun by the end!

Senior girls. Oh man, senior girls. Always absolutely beautiful and always making sure everything is on point and perfect with their attire and posing. They enter the studio with bags or hangers full of different outfits waiting for us to pick out the perfect ones to go with the locations we have chosen. All of the girls we get into the studio absolutely LOVE having their photos taken. Whether they are used to their friends photographing them or have been waiting for this moment for a few years, their true self always comes out in front of my camera and it is always so much fun!

Another favorite part of photographing seniors that I love is the planning process. Once our seniors reach out to us, we send them a questionnaire where they get to tell us all about themselves. We ask them what their favorite activity is, favorite movie, even their favorite place to eat. We want to know as much about them as possible so we can make their senior experience as amazing as possible! I also encourage them to ask questions about us, we want to make sure our seniors are as comfortable spending a few hours with us as possible. We use the information provided from their questionnaire to customize their sessions down to which piece of jewelry will go best with that floral shirt. Creating that amazing session that fits your every want and need will give you the best images possible.

The Lopez Boys

I have been photographing this family since before these boys even came into this world. It’s crazy to believe that Shannon is about to have her third boy and I’ll have the opportunity to photograph him as well! I can’t wait to meet the little guy.

For the last three years I was convinced the twins didn’t like me. They never wanted to smile for me and they ALWAYS cried when they saw me. BUT this time was different. It was a nice May Saturday and the sun was shining. It was a little windy but that was alright, we made it work. Shannon had signed up for a Mommy & Me session only to turn it into a full session surrounding their family. On this day, these two didn’t cry when they saw me, they didn’t turn away, they ACTUALLY SMILED! I got smiles. I cannot even believe it. They gave me big cheeses and continued to do it throughout the session.

We strolled around downtown Ionia on the beautiful brick Main Street and stopped at a few random places throughout the hour we spent together. Shannon wanted a “city” look so we did the best we could in this small town of Ionia utilizing the brick walls and alley ways. They turned out beautifully! I sent Shannon the gallery and she was ecstatic to see them, she said “These are exactly what I envisioned! Perfect!”

Happy birthday to these two cuties, I cannot wait to photograph them for years to come. I especially cannot wait to catch their faces the moment they get to meet little brother.
